RESTORE - Encrypted backups data in a table for retrieval when key is not known?
Description
The ability to retrieve an encryption code for a backup when that encryption is unknown. Recently, we changed our encryption codes in an effort to avoid mistaking the encryption, it was copied and pasted into the backup maintenance plans. This process is unreliable, and there have been issues when trying to restore backups on certain SQL Servers. While I understand that the reason for encryption is to protect the backups, if the encryption is not known, the backups are useless. Something needs to be done in this regard to prevent backups from being ununsable due to an unknown encryption. Is there any plans in the works to do something to allow for some method in Litespeed to allow the client to access the encryption?
