Memory utilization is wrong in the Oracle agent database dashboard compared to the HostAgent (IC) for AIX LPAR hosts -
Description
The memory utilization for AIX LPAR hosts seems incorrect between the Oracle agent and HostAgents (IC) dashboards.

Cause
In the HostAgent there are two options to calculate the host's used memory ('consumed' metric in the IC):- By the vmstat command
- By the perfstat utility
The Oracle database agent uses vmstat to collect memory utilization metrics.
The IC (Hostagent / Infrastructure agent) has an Agent Status Property (ASP) value called 'Use native collector (if available)'.When this option is true (by default) the IC uses the perfstat utility and when it is false it is uses the vmstat command and will be much higher.
The different value in the utilization was caused by the different value of the 'used' (the 'total' is the same).

Resolution
Resolution 1 for Memory metrics
WORKAROUND
Change the ASP value to use the native collector to false.
- Navigate to Administration | Agents | Agent Status
- Edit the properties of the HostAgent
- Click the link to Edit the private properties of this agent
- Set the Use Native Collector radio button to false
- Save Changes
- Deactivate the HostAgent
- Activate the HostAgent
STATUSThis issue has been logged as defect FOG-1064 to be fixed in a future version of the Oracle cartridge.
