While creating a subquery in Query Builder, the window hangs when typing in each column. This is not the case when creating the main query. However, in a subquery, after a column name is typed in, Toad seems to run something (i.e an hourglass appears) and hangs. In some cases it returns quickly, in other cases it hangs for longer and the Toad process needs to be killed. This happens after each column is added to the subquery.
This is an issue when working with large tables and datasets. The Query Builder runs a partial query with each newly added column name. If the table is big enough, it could cause a noticable delay while creating the subquery. This is only an issue with the subqueries.
WORKAROUND:
None
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future version of Toad for Data Analysts.
Defect ID ST95153 was given and changes were made for version 3.1 to improve performance. But the partial query is still run and can still cause issues in some environments. The defect ID has been reopened for further review in v3.1+. (4/10/12)
