When attempting to gather data from a machine that you may get the following error:
Object Name: Server FQDN
Data Source: Microsoft Windows Events
Description: An error occurred at data collection. The network path was not found.
This could occur due to DNS, firewall or authentication issues
For automatic deployed agents (non-firewalled setup)
1. Verify that you can ping the agent machine by NETBIOS name and fully qualified domain name and that they return the same IP address from the InTrust server that is managing the site (check DNS including search order if this fails)
2. On the agent machine ping the FQDN of the InTrust server (which is the Full Computer name field under Control Panel | System Properties | Computer Name)
3. On the agent machine run the following command 'telnet myITServer.mydomain.com 900', where myITServer.mydomain.com is the FQDN found above
4. If you are not using a preinstalled agent (or your gather is not using agents) check that you can browse \\machinename\admin$ from the InTrust server using the credentials of Quest InTrust Server service for a scheduled gather or your own credentials if you manually are running the job (check for permissions and shares if this fails). If the site is configured to use a different account (under SiteName | Properties | Accounts) to access site objects test this account.
For manually installed agents (usually in firewalled environment)
1. If you are using (or attempting to setup) a preinstalled agent confirm that you can telnet from the agent machine to the InTrust machine on port 900 (check firewall if this fails), i.e. 'telnet myITServer.mydomain.com 900' or 'telnet IPAddress 900'
2. Make sure that you have correctly installed and registered InTrust agent on InTrust server, see Documentation\InTrust\Manual Agent Install.htm for more info.
3. Restart the Quest InTrust Agent service on the agent machine
This affects all versions of InTrust
