When opening Quest Migrator and trying to connect to the database you may receive the following error, "Error #08001: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DNETLIB]General network error. "
The error may be due to an issue with the Systerm DSN that is used by your Migrator Console system to connect to the database. Delete the system DSN that was created called Quest Migrator and either try to connect to Migrator and let the system DSN be recreated automatically or create it manually with the following instructions:
1. Navigate to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Data Sources.
2. Select the System DSN tab.
3. Delete the system DSN called Quest Migrator.
4. Select add and choose the driver called SQL Server.
5. Name the driver "Quest Migrator".
6. Choose the SQL Server you will be connecting to.
7. Choose the authentication you will be using.
8. Change the default database to the Migrator database.
9. test the datasource ti make sure the DSN works.
Once you have saved the new system DSN you should be able to connect to the database through the Migrator console once again.
