While trying to install MessageStats an error similar to, sql server does not exist or access denied, is displayed
The account used to install MessageStats does not have database creation and maintenance rights on the SQL server where the MessageStats database will be hosted.
Add the account being used to install MessageStats to the local Administrator group and the dbcreator SQL Server Role on the SQL server that will host the MessageStats database
To add the account to the local Administrators group:
1. Open the Local Users and Group MMC snapin
2. Expand Groups
3. Double click the Administrators group
4. Click Add
5. Enter or search for the account name and click OK
6. Click OK
To add the account to the dbcreator SQL Server Role:
1. Open the SQL Management Studio
2. Expand Security
3. Right click Logins and select New Login
4. Search for the account name
5.Once the account is found click Server Roles
6. Select dbcreator and click OK
