You can have as many repositories as you want. There is no limit on either the number of repositories or the number of databases. It is best to locate your repositories on the machine where Aelita InTrust for Events is installed to speed up log processing. Actually, you can locate your repositories anywhere in the network. This will, however, increase the network traffic and slow down the overall performance.
The SQL Server databases can be also located anywhere on the network. You must only ensure a reliable connection with the SQL Server.
In distributed, multi-site enterprise environments, you may also choose to store the event data in the per-site repositories. Having a SQL Server at each site will allow you to organize local reporting and the processing of OLAP cubes at each site. At the same time, all repositories may be regularly merged into a central repository by means of the Aelita InTrust for Events Consolidation Wizard, thus providing for centralized enterprise-wide event reporting and analysis. This way, slow and expensive WAN links are used to transfer each portion of the event data to the central repository only once in compressed form, while all reporting and OLAP functions for the enterprise are then done within the site.
