Error "Failed to spawn 'SVDL Library Manager' in NetVault log on Mac OS X clients (4047927)

Symptoms:

Sporadically, Mac OS X clients log the following error in the NetVault log:
15 Aug 2006 15:01:35 [client_name] N/A N/A Failed to spawn 'SVDL Library Manager' (/usr/netvault/bin/nvsvdlchgmgr) Error

It could also read, "Failed to spawn 'SVTL Library Manager"

Reason:

SVDLs are only supported on Linux, Windows and Solaris (SPARC and Intel). They are not supported on Mac OS X. Therefore, the executable is not present, but NetVault still tries to spawn it as is considered a start-of-day executable.

On the problem clients stop the NetVault service and edit the programs.cfg file in NETVAULT_HOME/config. Find the following sections:

unix=bin/nvsvdlchgmgr

winnt=bin\nvsvdlchgmgr.exe

Comment out these lines or delete them.
