NetVault: Backup excludes certain files/folders automatically. This is a non-exhaustive list of items that are excluded by default because they don't ever need to be backed up.
Certain files are excluded automatically, depending on the operating system.
On Windows, this includes files in regular backups that are already backed up using the "System State" selection, as well as the files listed in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup. This key is usually populated by Windows or other applications.
On Unix, in addition to skipping door and socket files the following file systems are excluded from backup on the platforms that share mnttab formats with the specified type.
