Excluded from backup request causing duplication to go it waiting for media state (4047048)

Symptoms:
Phase 1 completes but phase 2 duplication goes into waiting for media state. When we look at the diagnose we see the media we would expect the backup to use is set in a state of Excluded from backup request.

If we look at the binary log we see that the tapes have been written to by the phase 2 duplication but the job does not complete the duplication to these tapes and The tape in question are not full.

Cause:
These are multi-stream backups and by default multi-stream backups will only write 1 stream per tape. Multi-stream backups are usually database backups such as Exchange or Oracle
 

Enable the phase 2 duplication to write multiple streams to 1 tape by selecting Advance option; "Allow Streams to Share Media".

Explanation:
Multiple streams occur when backing up databases because they have log files and database files and each will generate its own stream. In exchange we also see 1 stream per storage group unless this option is not selected. The reason multi-streams are use is to speed up backups as it enables netvault to write 1 backup to multiple tape drives
