Unable to start NetVault GUI on server. Communication error box appears.
The Netvault service is running but when you try to open the GUI a pop up box appears saying 'communication error'. When the Windows task manager is opened there is an active nvgui and nvsendopmsg and nvsendmail processes. Killing these processes and re-attempting to start the GUI results in the same 'communications error' once more.
As the Notifications cannot be changed without opening the GUI it's necessary to either fix the cause of the device being offline or
do the following:
1. Stop the NetVault services
2. Move the DeviceTree files (found at the below paths), out of the netvault directory for later use
/netvault/db/Media Database/indexes and
/netvault/db/Media Database/records
3. Start the NetVault services
NetVault no longer has a record for the failing device and the GUI will be accessible for you to deselect the Notifications for Devices in Global Notifications
4. Once done stop NetVault and reintroduce the old DeviceTree files back to their relevant directories.
Note that you will have to address the cause of the devices being offline.
