WCSERROR: WCS configuration invalid (4046552)

Description:
When the Workstation Client software is not configured in the new 8.2.2 Build 29 you will see an error in the log indicating WCS Configuration invalid

Symptoms:
You will see the following error in the logs: WCSERROR: WCS configuration invalid
 

This issue is resolved in NVBU 8.5. After upgrading the server and clients to 8.5, you should no longer receive this error. If you are unable to upgrade to 8.5, then please perform the following steps:

After the NetVault: Backup Client Software has been successfully installed on the Workstation Client; the Workstation Client must be configured before the NVWC Shadower will start functioning. This configuration can be performed by the enduser or employee or it can be performed by the NVBU Administrator if desired.


To create a mock configuration on the NVWC Scheduler, perform the following steps:
1. Create 2 folders C:\wcstore and C:\wc.
2. Open Start/Programs/NetVault and open the application 'Workstation Client Console'.
3. Enter the values in the fields as in the example wcclientexample.jpg attached in the Attachments part of this solution and click OK.
4. This basically creates a mock configuration. It will not run any shadowing.
