Description: The devicetree file is located in your Netvault database. It is the binary file that NetVault keeps your tape library information. It is not viewable.
The devicetree file is located in...
/netvault/db/Media Database/Indexes
/netvault/db/Media Database/records
If you will need to re-add devices as they are currently listed in the Device Manager, you will need to make a note of the exact names they have now, or a screen shot. Then you can add them back in with the same names so they can be found by jobs targeting those names.
If you would like to remove all the configured media libraries in NetVault you can...
1. Stop the NetVault services
2. Navigate to /netvault/db/Media Database/indexes and delete the devicetree file
3. Navigate to /netvault/db/Media Database/records and delete the devicetree file
4. Start the NetVault services
When The NetVault services are restarted a new devicetree file will be created in /netvault/db/Media Database/indexes and /netvault/db/Media Database/records. At this point you will need to readd all your configured media libraries in NetVault device management.
You can also
1. Stop the NetVault services
2. Navigate to /netvault/db/Media Database/indexes then cut and paste the devicetree file to a different location on your filesystem
3. Navigate to /netvault/db/Media Database/records then cut and paste the devicetree file to a different location on your filesystem
4. Start the NetVault services
When the NetVault services are restarted a new devicetree file is created. But you will also have a binary version of the old devicetree file that you can reimport into NetVault if you would like to bring back to old media library configuration.
