Title: 'Invalid argument' when trying to open GUI from client
Effected NV Version: 7.x.x
OS Version: All
Plugin version: N/A
Application version: N/A
Description:
When trying to start the Netvault GUI on a client, error message "Invalid Arguments" and a Communication error message pop up.
This error usually indicates a communication problem between client and server. Otherwise, the client would have been "fed" the information about its server already. If broadcasts between client and server should work (i.e. on the subnet), check your firewall settings, for example the built-in Windows firewall. Also try adding the client as a regular NetVault client in Client Management on the server. This should also tell it about the server. If you can back it up, but still not use the GUI on the client to control the server, try editing the fileNetvault/config/gui.cfg so it contains the NV server's name e.g.:
[servers]
names =
Make sure the NV servers name is the first to be listed under [servers]
If still having problems then check ../netvault/config/configure.cfg
At the bottom should be:
[machine]
Name=
If not there enter in. Stop and start service. GUI should now come up
