Description:
"nvsendmail failed in script sysmail" Is an error message that appears when NetVault is unsuccessful in sending a notification email event at the conclusion of a job .
The nvsendmail is a utility that simplifies the command to send an email to someone.
../netvault/util/nvsendmail -d -s test
If this is working properly, you should get an email with the word "test" in the subject line.
If this command does not work, then something is set up incorrectly.
To check the configuration you need to open the NetVault Server's Configurator and select the "Notification" tab.
OutGoing E-Mail Server(SMTP) - Add dns or ip address of your Mail server.
Netvault's E-Mail Address - does not require a "real" email address. Most people will put
Netvault@yourhostname.com
go to "Global Notification" Tab:
Email Address of System Administrator: Usually address of Admin or yourself.
All other fields are generally left alone. Stop and Start NetVault services for changes to take effect, then issue command from terminal or command prompt
/%NV_Home%/util/nvsendmail -d -s test
If the command is working correctly you will get an email with "test" in subject line.
If it does not work here are the possibilites:
1. Information inputted in the NetVault configurator above is incorrect.
2. Something in NetVault Server is not allowing email to be sent.
3. The mail server is not accepting email requests from the Netvault server.
