Description: Too few ports are configured in the firewall settings tab of NetVault Configurator.
Symptoms:
Error C:\VDL\drives\2: had channel error
Got list of '1' ports
Fatal error during address bind: Address already in use
Configure a larger range of ports in the Firewall tab of NetVault configurator. The port range should always start at 20031. It is best to configure 8 ports per client***. For example, if you have 100 clients, 20031-20830 would be a good range to use. All fields in the firewall tab should contain this range. The server and all clients must have the same settings configured in the Firewall tab of NetVault configurator.
You will also need to configure any firewalls on the NetVault server, clients, or anywhere in between to be open to UDP on 20031-20032 and TCP on your port range (e.g. 20031-30830).
On windows XP and 2003 clients, you can alternatively use our firewall utility to allow NetVault to communicate on any port. The firewall utility can be downloaded by going to www.bakbone.com then browsing to Support and then to What's New.
*** For more specific information about Firewall configuration within your environment, please refer to the section of NetVault: Backup Configurator Guide titled "Firewall Tab".
