NDMP Client Plugin backup fails with NDMP Connect Error - code 23 (4045231)

Description:
NDMP Client Plugin backup fails. The resulting Netvault log error is NDMP Connect Error - code 23.

Symptoms:
A NDMP Volume backup fails after 3 or 4KB of transfer.

NetVault logs have the following messages:

Information <date> <time> Job ID Media SCTAPE Received Media Request for UID 0
Error <date> <time> Job ID Data Plugin SCTAPE Failed to start backup: NDMP_CONNECT_ERR
Information <date> <time> Job ID Media SCTAPE DevMgrMoverAbort has requested a Mover Abort
Error <date> <time> Job ID Media SCTAPE SCTAPE 2-0.0.0 (HP Ultrium 4-SCSI): had transfer aborted

The Netvault Server running 2008 R2 had the Windows Software firewall enabled. Once the firewall was disabled, the job ran successfully.
