Description: Steps to resolve problems drilling down into binary log messages
Symptoms:
Netvault log messages do not allow the "drill down" to messages with exclamation marks. The extra information is not accessable to the user.
We have seen this problem occur where a Netvault Client's physical machine had been completely rebuilt with the same IP, machine name, accounts, passwords and Netvault Client name. Jobs run correctly and complete, but the full log messages are not available.
This occurred when the clinet had been rebuilt but the Netvault Client had NOT been removed and re-added to the Netvault server, so one the internal references to the client was incorrect.
To resolve this, remove the Netvault Client from the Netvault Server using client management, delete the dorectory of the client name in ~netvault /gui/cachedpits, then re-add the client to the server. The logs then gave all the usual information.
