Affected Product & Version - NetVault: Backup 7.4.5
Affected Module & Version - Reporting module
OS Version - Any
Application Information -
Description:
Solution for reporting jobs failing to complete.
Symptoms:
Reporting jobs appear in the reporting menu as "in progress" but never return control to the reporting menu,
In the logs we see:
'scheduler exited unexpectedly abandoning job'
Enabling trace shows the errors reading one of the reporting database tables (not the NetVault database).
The only way to work around this currently is to reconstruct the Netvault Reports database (~netvault/reports/dbmgr); there are two ways of doing this.
1) If you have an NVDB backup from before the error began you can restore the reports database from the backup:
a) shut down Netvault
b) move ~netvault/reports/dbmgr to a safe location
c) restore from an earlier backup, selecting all the elements below the "reports" node and ensuring that you have "Blank reports database tables before restore" selected on the restore options.
2) If you have no NVDB backup from before the beginning of the problem you will need to construct a new reports database:
On your Netvault Server
a) Shutdown the Netvault server services.
b) Move the contents of ~netvault/reports/dbmgr to a safe location outside of the Netvault directory tree.
On a DIFFERENT server with the same Operating System version-
a) run a new installation of the same version of Netvault Server with the SAME Netvault server name.
b) copy the contents of ~netvault/reports/dbmgr to your original Netvault server
c) remove the new installation
On the Netvault server:
a) start the services
b) Retest your reports
c) ensure that you take a safe backup of the Netvault database immediately.
