OS Version: All
Module & Version: N/A
Application version: N/A
Symptoms:
While trying to browse a saveset for restore (i.e. trying to double-click it for expansion), an error message pops up: "Unable to decompress backup index".
Reason:
Double-clicking on a saveset results in NetVault trying to read the index file. If the index is compressed (identifiable by a little dot over its name), it needs to be uncompressed before it can be browsed.
This is usually caused by a lack of disk space on the NetVault server. You will probably need more disk space for the decompression than the actual index size - the minimum value is configurable in Configurator -> Media Manager -> "Minimum Space For Index Decompression".
It is advisable to leave the default minimum of 500 MB in place. If you have this issue, free up disk space on the NetVault server instead. Afterwards, you should be able to browse the saveset.
