SQL Server differential database backup completed with warning - "unable to locate full backup index".
The backup select set for the differential database backup job differs from that for the corresponding full database backup, or a backup selection set is not configured for the full and differential database backup jobs.
1. Start the NetVault Console.
2. Open the "Backup" window.
3. Activate the File menu and select Load.
4. Select the FULL backup job then press OK.
5. At the bottom on the screen in the "Backup Selection Set" section section check the Modify box.
6. Click Save As.
7. Enter an appropriate name for the selection set - for example, "SQL_SERVER_SET".
8. Click OK to save the selection set.
9. Activate the File menu and select Save to save the job.
10. Click OK to overwrite the job.
11. Activate the File menu and select Load.
12. Select the DIFFERENTIAL backup job then press OK.
13. At the bottom on the screen in the "Backup Select Set" section press Load.
14. Select the same set as created at step-7 above, then press OK.
15. In the "Backup Select Set" section check the Modify box, click Modify in the pop up to confirm.
16. Go to the "Backup Options" screen. "Set Backup Type" to Differential Database. Configure the other options as required.
17. In the "Backup Options Set" section press Save As.
18. Enter an appropriate name for the selection set - for example "SQL_SERVER_DIFF_OPTIONS".
19. Click OK to save the option set.
20. Activate the File menu and select Save to save the job.
21. Click OK to overwrite the job.
Note: Step 6~10 are only required if a selection set is not configured for the full database backup job.
Simply note the name of the backup selection set if the job is already configured with one.
Run a full database backup, then afterward run the differential database backup job.
With the full and differential data jobs using the same "Backup Selection Set" the warning no longer occurs during the differential backup.
