Unable to connect to instance after fresh install or upgrade to SQL Server plugin to 12.2.0.12
This issue does not occur with the previous versions of the plugin.

Cause
In 12.2.0.12 SQL Server plugin, a new parameter field SQL Server ODBC Driver was added to allow access to the SQL instance using ODBC drivers. This request was to facilitate TLS 1.2 connection which does not work with the older drivers. By default, this field has the value "ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server". This error occurs when the client machine does not have this driver. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND1Install the ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server.
Note: For SQL Server 2017 on Windows, Microsoft recommends that you use the default driver, Microsoft ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server.
WORKAROUND2Check the ODBC Data Sources (drivers tab) and verify which ODBC Driver is available.
For example:ODBC Driver 13.1 for SQL ServerODBC Driver 13 for SQL ServerODBC Driver 11 for SQL ServerSQL ServerNote: For more information on the distinction between each of the different ODBC driver versions, please refer to Microsoft.
Next left-click on the Plug-in for SQL Server, select Configure, scroll to "SQL Server ODBC Driver" and update the field accordingly.
Please note that in previous versions of the plug-in it would always and only use the driver named 'SQL Server'. If you use 'SQL Server' the plug-in will also work in the same manner like the previous versions. Note that 'SQL Server' driver does not support latest versions of TLS, but it would work in your environment if older versions of TLS are installed.
