How to perform a Bare Metal Restore for a Windows machine from an archive
Description
This article describes how to perform a bare metal restore using an archive instead of a recovery point.
Resolution
Boot the machine from the Rapid Recovery BootCD (if you don't have one already follow these steps to create one)
Once the machine boots from the BootCD click the first icon to start the Universal Recovery Console
Once the Universal Recovery Console window opens, click on the Restore from Archive tab
Restore from Archive will give you 3 different options: Local, Network and Cloud.
Select the location of the archive and click next. NOTE: Make sure you point to the folder where AABackup is located. For instance, if your archive is in an external USB drive F:\Archive\AABackup, you need to point to the folder F:\Archive
The Universal Recovery Console will show you the list of agent recovery points that are within the archive, select the one you need and click next.
Select the recovery point from which you want to restore from and click next.
The last step is mapping, which Rapid Recovery will do automatically. Click Restore to continue to the next screen.
Note: You can also edit the mapping to your preference.
The last screen is disk mapping preview which it will give you a summary of the restore options you have selected, click Restore to start the restore process.
The restore process window will appear and it will let you know the phase in which it is.
Once the restore has been finished you can restart the system and let it boot into Windows as normal.
