Description:
Sybase restore to alternate Sybase ASE Server fails with error number 3120 with severity 16.


Symptoms:
The Sybase restore to alternate Sybase ASE machine fails with error similar to below -

The database you are attempting to LOAD was dumped under a different sort order ID (xx) or character set ID (yy) than the ones on this server (SortOrd = aa, CharSet = bb). If the sort orders differ, at least one of them is non-binary.

Make sure the sort ID/character set ID on the alternate Sybase ASE Server is the same as the original machine where backup is taken from. You can use "sqlloc" utility (if installed) to check the Sybase ASE configuration.
