Procedure for restoring DB2 archived logs using NetVault for the below backup strategy

Backup strategy:-

Full Backup and Archived Logs Backup – When business requirements mandate data protection up to the current time, but recovery time is not important, Full Backup and Archived Logs Backup should provide the necessary protection. For example, Full Backups can be performed every Sunday, while backups of Archived Logs can be performed Monday through Saturday. This strategy will require the plug-in to restore and apply each Archived Logs Backup between the last Full Backup and the point-of-failure in succession. This can lead to longer recovery as the week progresses. To speed up restores, you can include Incremental or Delta Backups, which will reduce the number of Archived Logs Backup that must be restored.

You need to perform the following restore sequence:

1. Restore Full backup. Select Tablespaces and Archived Logs. Clear 'Rollforward Archived Logs' check box.

2. Restore each Archived Logs backup in sequence. Select Archived Logs. Clear 'Rollforward Archived Logs' check box. 

3. Restore Full backup again. Select 'Rollforward Archived Logs', 'Soft Recovery' and 'Rollforward Only'.
