After successfully installing the Plug-in for Oracle on Linux, any attempt to run a RMAN CLI script to test backup to SBT_TAPE results in the following error returned to the RMAN prompt:
The default media management library file is not part of the standard Oracle installation as was the case in previous releases, so you can only create it by installing third-party media management software, in this case NetVault Plug-in for Oracle.
During installation the Plug-in for Oracle will attempt to create a symbolic link in $ORACLE_HOME/lib that points to /usr/netvault/lib/orasbt.so.
In some cases creating the symlink may fail as the the directory belongs to Oracle, and other environment conditions may prevent this from happening.
If the Plug-in for Oracle installation does not manage to create the link between the $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libobk.so to the NetVault Media Management library orasbt.so, the link must be done manually.
