CBT backups fails with "Failed to determine disk areas to backup” when VMware tools is installed (4035636)

CBT backups fails with "Failed to determine disk areas to backup" when VMware tools is installed. This occurs for HotAdd mode Backups. Even after restting CBT, issue persist.

Uninstall VMware tools from the virtual machines.

RESOLUTION

Waiting for a fix in a future release of NetVault Backup.

Alternately, as the 'quiesce' feature is optional, you can turn the default NetVault *requirement* that VM's being backed up successfully quiesce before  a snapshot of the VM is taken.

If you would like to disable the quiesce requirement, you can edit the NetVault 'vmware.cfg' file (located in the '..\netvault\config' directory of the NetVault machine where the VMware plugin is installed) and add/modify the following stanza in that file, saving the change on exit:
