Description:
How to Create/Remove a Virtual Library on a Snap Machine
Symptoms: N/A
1. Remove the library from the NetVault GUI Device Management
2. SSH into the Snap Server
3. CD into /hd/vol_mnt0/BakBone/NetVault/etc
4. Type ./startup.sh stop, to stop NetVault Services
5. Type cd .. to back out of the etc directory, then cd into the config directory
6. VI into diskdevices.cfg, remove the information showing the location of the Virtual Library (only) and then hit, shift and :, then type wq! to save and quit out of VI
7. Type cd .. to back out of that directory, then cd into the etc directory and type, ./startup.sh start, to restart the NetVault Services.
8. CD into the directory where you created the virtual library and delete it (when creating another one with same name), to clear up the space and be allowed to create the same named virtual library again.
9. Go into the NetVault GUI, then Device Management and Add, then right click on the server your going to create the library on and choose, create virtual library
10. Type in the location/path of where your virtual library will be located/created
11. Type in a unique name for your virtual library, do not use the name that NetVault will give it.
12. Indicate the amount of drives that you want your virtual library to have, by typing it in or clicking on the up/down arrows
13. Indicate the amount of slots that you want your virtual library to have, by typing it in or clicking on the up/down arrows
14. Indicate the amount of entry/exit ports you want your virtual library to have, by typing it in or clicking on the up/down arrows
{Only do 14 if you want to create entry/exit ports.}
{"YOU MUST FIRST" do this, before you start this whole process}
(Go into your NetVault Configurator, Plugin Options Tab and check the box that says "Allow disk libraries to have entry/exit ports, then stop/restart services, for it to take effect)
15. Indicate the size of each slot that you are creating for your virtual library, in MB's, then click ok... once you click ok your library will begin to create itself. {Example Only: 400G library 5 slots = 82000mb per slot}
16. Once it finishes, you will get a notification stating "Library Created Successfully", click Ok
17. Under Library Selection Tab, double click on the server you created the library on, you should see your library you create and a blank window on your right under "Selected Library". Next double click on that library you created and it will populate a diskette picture of your library.
18. Go to Drive Selection Tab, double click on the server you created the library on, you should see your drives that you created, and a blank window on your right under "Selected Drives". You will see "Select for drive bay" 1 of X (number dependant on how many drives you create) & up/down arrows. Double click on your first created drive, making sure that you set to drive bay 1, to populate a diskette picture. Then change the drive bay up to the next number, in this case 2, then double click on your second created drive, to again populate a diskette picture... continue this process until you have populated a diskette picture for each drive & bay you have.
19. Once all this is done, you can click on save and you will get a pop up saying "Library Saved Successfully" and you can then close that window.
You should now have a Virtual Library created to your specifications. Allow the virtual go through its own process of initialization before it shows everything online, and before you can start to use it.
