Hyper-V Export Fails with Error: Could Not Perform Hyper-V Export to a Remote Server (4018215)

When attempting a Hyper-V export, the following error message is encountered:

 Error: Could not perform Hyper-V export to a remote server. Please make sure that the proper .Net Framework is installed on ‘#hostname#’ and port ’8010′ is open for incoming HTTP connections and try again.

This issue occurs due to one or both of the following reasons:

1. The required .NET Framework version is not installed on the Hyper-V host.
2. Port 8010 is not open for incoming HTTP connections on the Hyper-V host.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Ensure Required .NET Framework Versions Are Installed

   • The Rapid Recovery 6.9 System Requirements specify that the Hyper-V host must have:
     • .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later
     • .NET Framework 2.0 or later (for legacy support)
   • If experiencing crashes on the Rapid Recovery Core with errors such as System.AccessViolationException, it is recommended to upgrade the .NET Framework on the Hyper-V host to version 4.7.2 or later for enhanced stability.

2. Verify Port 8010 Is Open for Incoming HTTP Connections

   • Check that your network configuration and Windows Firewall on the Hyper-V manager allow incoming connections on port 8010.
   • If the port is blocked, configure your firewall or network rules to allow HTTP traffic on this port.
