Installing and linking the KSDA Remote Site Appliance
Instructions for appliance version 3.7 SP3 and older.
***Please note the minimum space requirement is 250 GB of hard drive space.***
- Log into the KSDA Administrative Console.
- Click Deployments > Remote Sites.
- In the Choose Action menu, select Download Remote Site Appliance OVF.
- Extract the files
- Launch the vSphere client, then click > Deploy OVF Template
- Browse to the folder where you extracted the files and select the OVF file. The installation wizard appears and offers you installation choices.
- After creating the Virtual Server, restart the virtual machine and login as konfig / konfig to configure network settings.
- Logon to the KSDA Remote Site Appliance and install the license key. Use the original 2000 series keys. It will share the license amount between the two boxes.
- Enable KSDA Linking on the both the KSDA and the RSA, click Settings and Maintenance > Control Panel > KACE Linking and then click Enable KACE Linking.
- Create a KACE Linking between the Remote Site Appliance and the Main KSDA appliance by doing the following:

- On the Remote Site Appliance: Click Settings and Maintenance > Control Panel > Managed Linked Appliance and create a link to the KSDA appliance. You will need the IP address and the linking key from the KSDA appliance.
- On the Main KSDA appliance: Click Settings and Maintenance > Control Panel > Managed Linked Appliance and create a link to the Remote Site Appliance. You will need the ip address and the linking key from the Remote Site appliance.

Download the KSDA and RSA(Remote Site Appliance) Series Server (OVF) or (Hyper-v)from this location. KSDA Downloads page.

- In the Virtual Appliance section, download the compressed VHD bundle to your Hyper-V host system.
- Extract and verify the integrity of the files.
- In Hyper-V Manager, right-click the host and click Import Virtual Machine. The Import Virtual Machine window appears.
- Browse to the location of the extracted VHD bundle.
- In Settings, select Copy the virtual machine (create a new unique ID) and Duplicate all files so the same virtual machine can be imported again.
- Click Import.
- The VKSDA appears in the Virtual Machines list.
- Edit the virtual machine’s settings to connect the virtual network adapter to your Hyper-V host’s virtual switch.
- After configuring the network settings, the appliance will reboot. Upon accessing the webui, an option will be available to select either a full KSDA or a RSA.

- Launch the vSphere in the Virtual Appliance section, download the compressed OVF (Open Virtualization Format) file to your vSphere Client system.
- Extract the files.
- Launch the vSphere client program, then click File > Deploy OVF Template.
- Browse to the folder where you extracted the files and select the OVF file. The installation wizard appears and offers you installation choices.
- Select the components that your implementation requires: data center, datastore, and so on.
- Click Finish.
- Confirm the appliance settings. Check for a valid network and any other settings you need.
- After configuring the network settings, the appliance will reboot. Upon accessing the webui, an option will be available to select either a full KSDA or a RSA.
Licensing key and information will be same as the KSDA appliance. If you do not have a record of your KSDA license key, please contact support providing the last five characters of the KSDA key.

This option will only be presented using Hyper-V or VMware. Other virtual machine software will not be supported.
