There are currently four key components of the Expert Assist (Remote Management) client module which require java applet support by the connecting browser. The File Transfer, Remote Control, Help Desk Chat, and Command Prompt components of Expert Assist will not function without JRE and either native java applet browser support or the Expert Assist Java Launcher being installed.
Before version 11 (which fully relies on Java Launcher component), on browsers that do not natively support java applets (e.g. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge), The Expert Assist Java Launcher must be downloaded and installed. This add-on is responsible for launching all java dependent components of Expert Assist within a java-enabled instance outside of the current browser. Also similar to browsers with native java applet support, a current version of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) is still required.
