To use KACE Desktop Authority to deploy MSI software packages, you will need to first import and publish the MSI file through KACE Desktop Authority. The following details how to proceed in completing this task.
The Update Service must be installed on at least one server before you are able to Import and Publish an MSI package.
Launch the KACE Desktop Authority console and navigate to Deployment Settings | Server Manager | Service Management.
The drop box under “Update Service” is used to install the Update Service, if it isn't already. This service requires Domain Admin credentials.
Next Import and Publish the MSI package so that it will be made available to the MSI Packages elements.
Go to Deployment Settings | Software Distribution. From here you are able to see what MSI packages are available to you via KACE Desktop Authority.
Click on Import and select the MSI package from the file location where it currently resides.
Click Open. This will transfer the file into Desktop Authority.
At this point, the MSI package should be listed and unpublished with a red indicator.
Highlight the MSI Package.
Click the "Publish" button.
The MSI package Status should now show Published with a green indicator. The MSI package will now be available for use in the MSI Packages elements under both Computer and User Management.
Your Request will be reviewed by our technical reviewer team and, if approved, will be added as a Topic in our Knowledgebase.
