Invalid credentials message during an upgrade: Validation failed: The specified WinService user ('domain\username') is not a domain user -
Description
When attempting to enter credentials for the Desktop Authority Manager or the Operations service during an upgrade it fails and returns an invalid credentials message.
DAInstaller.log may display:
Validation failed: The specified WinService user ('domain\username') is not a domain user.

Cause
The Desktop Authority Manager Service or the Desktop Authority Operations Service may not be started and/or may not be using the correct account username or password.

Resolution
Launch the Desktop Authority Setup Tool and change the accounts/passwords for these two services and try the installation again.
- Go to Start | All Programs | Quest | Desktop Authority Manager | Desktop Authority Setup Tool.
- Go to the "Service Management" tab.
- Edit the accounts and/or passwords for the Desktop Authority Manager and Operations services.
- Start both services, or restart if already started.
- Close the Desktop Authority Setup Tool.
- Launch the installer again to see if the issue is resolved.
