How to Upgrade Toad Intelligence Central (4380639)

Customers may need to upgrade Toad Intelligence Central to ensure compatibility with newer versions of Toad Data Point (TDP), maintain stability, and take advantage of updated features.

• Running mismatched versions of Toad Data Point (TDP) and Toad Intelligence Central (TIC) can lead to instability.
• Deprecated operating systems are no longer supported for installation or upgrade.
• Data folder misconfiguration or Read-only attributes may cause errors post-upgrade.
• Authentication handling changed starting with TIC 4.3 (simplified object authentication).

Follow these steps to successfully upgrade Toad Intelligence Central:

1. Stop TIC services

   • Stop all Toad Intelligence Central services before upgrading.

2. Back up the Data folder

   • Copy the entire Data folder (default: C:\ProgramData\Quest Software\Toad Intelligence Central\).
   • This includes user data, datasources, mappings, snapshots, and datasets.

3. Prepare for deprecated OS

   • If the current OS is unsupported, migrate the Data folder to a supported OS and install there.

4. Run the installer for the new version (e.g., 6.4.1)

   • During setup, specify the location of the existing Data folder.

5. Handle authentication changes

   • If upgrading from TIC 3.3 or earlier, note that personal authentication keys will be removed in favor of shared keys.

6. Re-enter credentials and license

   • Enter the same Admin password used in the previous installation.
   • Reapply your license key.

7. Update connection details if required

   • If the hostname or IP changes, users must update their connection profiles.

8. Install required drivers

   • Ensure drivers for all data sources are installed on the TIC host.

9. Post-upgrade checks

   • Restart TIC services and confirm they run without errors.
   • Validate datasets, snapshots, scheduled jobs, and user logins.
   • Remove the Read-only attribute from the Data folder if present.

10. Rollback availability
