Spotlight on SQL Server 10.0.3 - Getting Started Guide

Send an Email Dialog

Note: This feature is available only in Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise.

You may want to configure Spotlight to send an email when an alarm is raised.

To open this dialog

  1. Click Configure | Alarms Actions to open the Alarm Action Editor (page 1).

  2. Click New to create a new rule. This opens the Alarm Action Dialog (page 1).
    1. Give a meaningful name to the rule.
    2. Select the conditions under which the rule will run.
    3. Under actions select Send email to.

The Add an email dialog

Field Description
To Enter the target email address.
Subject This is the message subject line. See "Alarms - Message Variables" (page 1) for more information.
Message This is the body of the message to be sent. See "Alarms - Message Variables" (page 1) for more information.
Test Click Test to ensure all settings are correct and operational.

Tip:You can create a default recipient list. See Configure the Mail Server Used by the Spotlight Diagnostic Server (page 1) for more information.
