Spotlight on Oracle 10.10 - Release Notes

Sequential Read Time Alarm (calibrated)

The Sequential Read Time alarm is activated when the average time that Oracle takes to read a single block of data — typically an index-based lookup — is significantly higher than the average time recorded during calibration.

Single block reads that take too long to complete may indicate a disk bottleneck or other I/O-related issue.
