Foglight Integration for OpenManage Essentials 5.7.0 - User Guide

VMware Explorer dashboard

To see the detailed hardware metrics that OpenManage Essentials collects for an ESX server, view the VMware Explorer dashboard.
On the navigation panel, under Homes, click VMware Environment and select the OME_ESX_Hosts service. Select an ESX host from the list and click Explore.

On this dashboard, you can view the low-level hardware statistics that OpenManage Essentials collects. OpenManage Essentials data reflects the immediate state of the ESX. To create a report for the selected ESX server, see Running a report.
On the right-side, review the OME Alert Feed. The summary graph provides a historical view of the alerts for the time range listed at the top of the page.
OpenManage Essentials alerts can be acknowledged/unacknowledged, but they cannot be cleared like Foglight alarms can. The OME Alert Feed thread continues to accumulate with severity changes and new alerts, so viewing the alert list by time (most recent), instead of by severity, is recommended. For more information about OME alerts, see OME rules.
OME rules
Foglight Integration for OpenManage Essentials provides four rules to trigger Foglight alarms.

OME Critical Alerts Rate
This rule determines if the OME server is demonstrating an abnormal critical alerts rate.
OME Warning Alerts Rate
This rule determines if the OME server is demonstrating an abnormal warning alerts rate.
OME alert Acknowledge/Clear actions failed
The rule OMEAlertActionFailed is triggered when the OME alert action failed.
Cannot establish connection to OME server
The rule OME Server Connection Failed is triggered when the agent cannot establish a connection to the OME server during data collection or while performing OME alert actions.
Running a report
To create a report for the OME hardware:

Open the VMware Explorer dashboard > ESX Host > Hardware tab.

On the top right corner, click Reports > Run a Report, and select the OME Hardware Report from the list.
The report for the OME hardware is generated.
