Viewing cleaner statistics

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click View Cleaner Statistics.

On the Cleaner Statistics page, you can view the current and previous run statistics. The following information is displayed: File Processed, Bytes Processed, Bytes Reclaimed, Completion Time, Start Time, and End Time.

Starting or stopping cleaner

You can start the cleaning process only when the Cleaner Status of the DR Device is Pending or Done and stop the cleaning process only when the Cleaner Status of the DR Device is Running.

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click Start Cleaner.

On the Start Cleaner dialog box, click Start Cleaner.

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click Stop Cleaner.

On the Stop Cleaner dialog box, click Stop Cleaner.

The Cleaner Status of the DR Device is updated accordingly.

Managing Quest DR Series System users

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click Manage Users.The Manage Quest DR Device Users page displays the following information:
Device Name: Name of the Quest DR Device.
Actions: Options for user account related tasks.
User Name: User name of the Quest DR Series System user.
You can create and manage the DR Series System users from the Manage Quest DR Device page and configure the options described in the following sections:

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click Manage Users.

On the Manage Quest DR Device Users page, click Add User.

On the Add User dialog box, configure the following options:

User Name

Type the user name for the user account. User name must start with an alphabet and 6 to 31 character long.

New Password

Type a new password for the user account.

A password can contain 8 to 16 characters.

Re-enter password

Retype the password for confirmation.

Click Save to save the user details.

On the Manage Quest DR Device Users page, in the list of DR Device users, locate the user, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Change Password.

On the Change Password dialog box, configure the following options.

Current Password

Type the current password for the user account.

New Password

Type a new password for the user account.

A password can contain 8 to 16 characters.

Re-enter password

Retype the password for confirmation.

Click Change Password to save the details, and return to the Manage Quest DR Device Users page.

On the Manage Quest DR Device Users page, in the list of DR Device users, locate the user, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Delete.

On the Delete User dialog box, click Delete.

Managing Storage Groups

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click Manage Storage Groups.

The Manage Quest DR Device Storage Groups page displays the following information:
Device Name: Name of the Quest DR Device.
Actions: Options for the tasked related to storage group.
Storage Group Name: Quest DR Series System storage group name.
Encryption Type: Type of encryption (None, Static, Internal).
Compression Type: Type of compression (Balance, Best).
Rotation Period: Number of days for key rotation.
LSU Count: Number of LSUs in the storage device.
You can create and manage a DR Series System storage group from the Manage Quest DR Device Storage Groups page and configure the options described in the following sections:

On the Manage Quest DR Device page, click Manage Storage Groups.

On the Manage Quest DR Device Storage Groups page, click Add Storage Group.

On the Add Storage Group dialog box, configure the following options:

Storage Group Name

Type the name for the storage group. The name must start with an alphabet.

Compression Type

Select one of the following compression level for storage optimization:

Balance: Results in shorter backup time with less storage space.
Best: Results in longer backup time with more storage space.

Encryption Type

Select any of the following encryption types:

None: Default value.
Static: A global, fixed key is used to encrypt all data.
Internal: Content encryption keys are generated and rotated on a specified time.

Passphrase

This field is enable only when you select ‘Internal’ in the filed Encryption Type.

To encrypt content encryption keys, type a passphrase The passphrase string can contain a maximum of 255 characters and can contain alphanumeric and special characters.

Rotation Period

This field is enable only when you select ‘Internal’ in the filed Encryption Type.

Select the number of days for key rotation. The default value is 30 days. Generate the new key after the rotation period is expired.

The valid range for this field is 7 to 2550 days.

On the Manage Quest DR Device Storage Groups page, in the list of Storage Groups, locate the Storage Group, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Edit.

On the Edit Storage Group dialog box, configure the options as mentioned in Creating a storage group

Click Save.

To manage an LSU:

On the Manage Quest DR Device Storage Groups page, in the list of Storage Groups, locate the Storage Group, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Explore.

The Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page displays the following information:
Device Name: Name of the Quest DR Device.
LSU Name: Name of the LSU.
Actions: Options for DR Device LSUs related tasks.
Attached To NVBU: Yes or No (If the LSU is attached to the NetVault Backup or not).
You can create and manage an LSU from the Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page and configure the options described in the following sections:

To create an LSU:

On the Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page, click Add LSU.

On the Add LSU dialog box, type the name of the LSU. The LSU name must start with an alphabet.

Click Save.

To delete an LSU:

On the Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page, in the list of LSUs, locate the LSU, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Delete.

On the Remove LSU dialog box, click Remove.

You can add an LSU as a media only if the status in the field Attached To NVBU is ‘No’.

To add an LSU as a media:

On the Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page, in the list of LSUs, locate the LSU, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Add As A Media.

On the Add As A Media dialog box, configure the following options:

Block size

The default block size is 512 KiB. The block size cannot be changed for Quest DR Series systems.

Stream Limit

The default value for this setting is 256 streams. This setting applies to all NetVault Backup Servers to which the container is added. If the number of data streams exceeds the defined limit for the container, the Media Manager reports an error (“Device has too many streams”).

You can set the soft stream limit to any value between 1 and 512.

If the container is added to more than one NetVault Backup Server, set the same soft stream limit on all servers.

Force add

If the device is already added to another NetVault Backup Server with the same name, select the Force add check box. This option can be useful if you have performed a disaster recovery to rebuild the NetVault Backup Server.

Click Add As A Media.

You can remove an LSU as a media only if the status in the field Attached To NVBU is ‘Yes’.

To remove a media:

On the Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page, in the list of LSUs, locate the LSU, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Remove Media.

On the Remove Device dialog box, click Remove.

If NetVault Backup fails to remove the device, select the Force Removal check box in the confirmation dialog, and click Remove.
NOTE: You can use the Force Removal option to remove a device that is not in use. However, the device may still try to communicate with the NetVault Backup Server.

On the Manage Quest DR Device LSUs page, in the list of LSUs, locate the LSU, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Statistics.

On the Statistics dialog box, you can view the following information: Files Replicated Inbound, Bytes Processed Inbound, Bytes Replicated Inbound, Bytes Transferred Inbound, Errors Inbound, Files Replicated Outbound, Bytes Processed Outbound, Bytes Replicated Outbound, Bytes Transferred Outbound, Outbound Errors, Bytes Synthesized, Bytes Ingested, Bytes Transferred, Files Ingested, Files Aborted, Ingest Errors, Files Read, Bytes Read, and Read Errors.

Click OK to close the dialog box.

On the Manage Quest DR Device Storage Groups page, in the list of Storage Groups, locate the Storage Group, and click the corresponding icon in the Actions column. Click Statistics.

On the Statistics dialog box, you can view the following information: Physical Used, Bytes Ingested, Num Files, Bytes Post Dedupe, Bytes Post Compression, Bytes Post Encryption, Number of Inodes, Cleaner Status, Encryption Status, Read Throughput, Write Throughput, Dedupe Savings, and Compression Savings.

Click OK to close the dialog box.
