Creating a restore job

Creating a restore job starts the Restore Wizard, which guides you through the steps of completing the job.

To create a restore job:

1	In the vRanger UI, click My Repositories.

2	On the toolbar, click Restore from Manifest, and then click Restore from VMware Savepoint Manifest File. The Restore Wizard starts.

3	Click Next.

Use the Savepoint Manifest Selection page to browse to the location of the manifest on your network, and configure the appropriate authentication credentials for the file.

To select a savepoint from the manifest:

1	On the Savepoint Manifest Selection page, do one of the following:

▪	Enter the path to the savepoint manifest file.

▪	Click Browse, and then browse to the location of the savepoint manifest.

2	Enter the credentials for the account with access to the savepoint manifest.

3	[Optional] If the savepoint is encrypted, enter the encryption password.

4	Click Add.

5	Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 as needed for multiple savepoints.

6	Click Next.

7	On the Job Information page, enter the Job Name and Job Description.

Selecting a VM Name & Folder

The VM Name & Folder page lets you specify the name for the restored VM and configure the datacenter to which the savepoints are to be restored.

To select a VM and datacenter:

1	For a single VM:

a	In the Virtual Machine Name field, accept the existing VM name, or enter a new name.

b	Select the appropriate datacenter or VM folder from the available options.

c	Click Next.

2	For multiple VMs:

a	For each machine, the Restore As field displays the name that will be given to the restored VM. To restore the VM with the original name, do nothing.

OR

To restore the VM with a different name, click on the name in the Restore As column, and edit the VM name as desired.

b	For each machine, confirm the datacenter or VM folder listed in the VM Folder field.

OR

Click the browse button and select a datacenter or VM folder from the available options. CLick OK.

c	Click Next.

Selecting a Compute Resource

The Compute Resource page allows you to specify the computing resource (cluster, host, vApp, or resource pool) that will run the restored virtual machine.

To select a computing resource:

1	For a single VM:

a	In the right-hand pane, select the appropriate compute resource.

b	Click Next.

2	For multiple VMs:

a	For each machine, confirm the resource listed in the Compute Resource field.

OR

Click the browse button and select a Compute Resource from the available options. Click OK.

b	Click Next.
