Appendix: Active Administrator Server Manager

The Active Administrator Server manager is a tool included with Quest Active Administrator for managing Active Administrator Foundation and Data Services, Active Administrator Notification Services, Active Administrator Licenses, Active Administrator Security, and Web Services.

Click Windows Start | Quest | AA Server Manager.

Managing the Active Administrator Foundation and Data Services

This section of the Server Manager contains tools to manage Active Administrator Foundation and Data Services.

You can stop and start the Active Administrator Foundation Service (AFS) and the Active Administrator Data Services (ADS).

Select the AFS & ADS Services tab.

Stop the AFS service

Start the AFS service

Start the ADS service

Start ADS Service

You can change the password for the Active Administrator Foundation Service (AFS) and the Active Administrator Data Services (ADS) startup account.

Select the AFS & ADS Services tab.

Click Set Account.

You can enable or disable logging of the Active Administrator Foundation Service (AFS) and the Active Administrator Data Services (ADS). You also can view the contents of the log files.

There may be a need to clear the Active Administrator Foundation Service (AFS) cache.

Click Clear AFS Cache.

Click Yes.

The default value for the Active Administrator Foundation Service (AFS) port is 15601. The default value for the Active Administrator Data Services (ADS) port is 15602.

From the Start menu, open AA Server Manager, and select the AFS & ADS Services tab.

Type a value in the Foundation Service Port Number box.

Click Set AFS Port.

Active Administrator audit reports use SQL Full-Text Search to filter event descriptions to help reports run faster. When the SQL Full-Text Search is enabled, the current index status is displayed and clicking on the status will update it.

Select the AFS & ADS Services tab, under SQL Full-Text Search, click Enable.
