These suggestions should work for all SQL Navigators of version 4.1c1 and up, unless otherwise noted:
WORKAROUND 1:
Sometimes the Output window can get undocked and minimized. With SQL Navigator open, please check the lower left corner of your desktop for a minimized output window.
WORKAROUND 2:
The Output Window may have accidentally been moved out of the view of the screen.
1. Please try clicking on the show output button so that it is depressed and has focus.
2. Uncheck the "Dockable Output Window".
3. Then press alt-space, 'M', and try using the arrow keys to move the output window into view.
Usually, if the output window is off screen to the right, the window menu will appear on the right side of your screen, so use the left arrow key to move left the window and vice versa. Use the arrow keys to see if you can get the widow back into view.
WORKAROUND 3:
Adjust your preferences settings.
1. Go to | VIEW | PREFERENCES | USER INTERFACE |
2. Uncheck the "Dockable Output Window".
3. Scroll bar should appear.
4. Scroll down and find the output window.
5. Drag it back up into the normal viewing area.
6. Re-check the "Dockable Output Window" checkbox (user's discretion).
WORKAROUND 4:
1. Go to View | Screen Layout | Reset Docking
2. Close application
3. Launch SQL Nav again
WORKAROUND 5:
Reload an existing preference file from another computer that shows the output window.
1. On the working computer go to View | Preferences | Save then save the .pref file.
2. Load the file onto the non-working computer by going into View | Preferences | Load.
WORKAROUND 6:
Check the Registry setting.
*Save a backup of your registry before making changes to it.
1. Close SQL Navigator.
2. Select Start | Run | Type regedit.
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quest Software\SQL Navigator\Docking Windows\Layout#
* Layout0 is default layout.
* Layout# depends on how many layout styles you've saved. It increments starting with 0.
Check whether the size of the window is reasonable and not outside of the viewable area.
Normal settings are approximately Height = OriginalHeight = 174 and Width = OriginalWidth = 352
WORKAROUND 7 :
Reset your docked window settings in the registry.
* Save a backup of your registry before making changes to it.
1. Close SQL Navigator.
2. Select Start | Run | Type regedit.
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quest Software\SQL Navigator.
4. Rename the following folders:
"Docking Windows" to " Docking Windows old"
"Docking Areas" to "Docking Areas old"
5. Open SQL Navigator and verify that the Output window appears.
