Migrating a large amount of public folder data and since ODM creates the public folder mailbox, will it create multiple public folder mailboxes to prevent auto splitting from happening?
Per Microsoft's documentation, Auto-splitting will start once the mailbox reaches 80% of its storage. We do not want that to happen and would like the contents evenly distributed between public folder mailboxes. How ODM balance the distribution of data?
ODM will not create the Public Folder mailboxes in the target. Target Public Folder mailboxes must be manually created on the Target at least a day before migrations to allow the Public Folder mailbox and folders to provision in the source.
IMPORTANT: Set target root owner permissions are assigned to the migration service account.
The Public Folder migration is a copy/paste migration. The folder structure in the source will migrate as it is to the target environment.
Public folders are migrated to their respective mailboxes.
Public Folders in Mailbox 1 will migrate to the target Mailbox 1, and public folders in Mailbox 2 will be migrated to Mailbox 2 in the target, and so on.
