Please check whether the following conditions are met:
1. Confirm that the server you use for connection can be pinged by its FQD name.
2. Confirm that the domain where server you use for connection can be pinged by its FQD name. For example, if this server is in testdomain.local domain you can ping testdomain.local.
3. Confirm that the server you use for connection is not Front End Server
4. With in the task that is getting this error go into the properties of it and go to the Gathering server page and make sure that you have a server listed that is the highest version of Exchange. Example: If you are running Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013 make sure you have a 2013 server as your gathering server.
