How to configure Kace SDA with VMXNET3 network adapter type for 10Gbps networking.
説明
Upgraded ESX environment that runs 10Gbps network but Kace SDA's default network adapter E1000 does not support this speed. This solution provides the steps that need to be taken to change the network adapter type to VMXNET3 which supports 10Gbps.
対策
Following steps must be followed to perform the configuration change on a VMWare ESX virtual appliance to achieve this goal.
Turn off your appliance and take a snapshot for recovery purpose in case something critically fails.
Change the adapter type to VMXNET 3 via VM settings.
Then turn the appliance on and via the VM console, login to the "konfig" interface by using the default username and password and change the hostname, a letter can be added or removed. This configuration will be undone once the appliance reboots.
Save the "konfig" configuration which will trigger a reboot then go back into the "konfig" interface and undo the change on the hostname and reboot again.
Now, SDA should be running in VMXNET 3 network adapter type.
追加情報
VMXNET3 Adapter Speed can only be set to Auto Negotiate. This means the NIC will negotiate the transfer speed with the Switch. (or vSwitch).
We have observed an issue affecting FreeBSD virtual machines, being unable to print the negotiated speed when doing -ifconfig- command.
(KACE SMA and FuryBSD are also affected by this)
In this case, we recommend to observe the KACE SDA Dashboard, the Network Utilization Widget can output transfer speeds when an Imaging Job is happening.
