No connection is made and RDP session doesn't start at all. Popup dialog with "protocol error" is shown immediately. Issue only happens when user is trying to connect through the Secure Access Server
1. On the Secure Access server verify if 443 port is bound to pnsslsvc.exe process.
It's possible to do that by running this command in command prompt:
netstat -aon | find "443"
The second column should show <server_IP>:443 or 0.0.0.0:443, the rightmost column is PID of the process that port is bound to. Please open Task Manager, Processes tab and enable PID checkbox through menu, View, Select Columns.
The 443 port should be bound to pnsslsvc process PID. Usually such error may be caused by IIS service, taking 443 port (PID 4).
Remove binding or stop the conflicting process, then restart Secure Access / Quest Secure Socket Layer service.
2. Make sure both External (& Internal if required) DNS is setup to correctly point to the Secure Access Server
