When using the table filter in the reverse engineering wizard, when I type in the string I want to filter for nothing happens.
When you key in the string, you need to click the filter button on the right to get the filter to work. It should put a checkmark next to each table name that the filter applies to. It will not shorten the list at all. It will just put a checkmark next it.
