Oracle APM 7.0.5 backups on AIX run successfuly and backs up all necessary data to VTL, but always fails when starting Controlfile Autobackups.
The error message is:
"RDA not supported on this platform"
However, the job does not explicitly target any DR4x00 container. It is only configured to write to VTL.
When Autobackups are configured, every Oracle backup will create separate sub-jobs to backup the SFILE and Controlfiles separately.
If a target set is not specified for Autobackups, the default "Any device" decision will be applied and any available device will be assigned to write these autobackups. In this case the DR4100 container was targeted but Oracle APM 7.0.5 does not support the RDA protocol for AIX.
To prevent Autobackups from writing to an unsupported device, make sure the Oracle APM configuration menu specifies a target set for CLI and Autobackups.
To do this create a target set you wish the autobackups use, then:
At the time of this KB article, testing and support of Oracle backups to RDA devices, was only performed and verified with NVBU Server 9.2 running on 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) Windows and Linux operating systems.
