During a directory synchronization the sync does not function as expected and the following error is logged in the dsa.log file:
"Common Error 0x800a0bd2. Not enough space on disk. (source=DAO.Workspace)."
NOTE: This is also a valid strategy to free up space on a DSA server.
This is caused by the directory synchronization agent running out of free disk space on the server. The DSA (Directory Synchronization Agent) builds and reads from cache files during the synchronization. If the agent has no disk space to create new data files, it will not function correctly.
To resolve this issue please stop Directory Synchronization (DSA) and ensure it is fully stopped with a status of 100% in the console.
Then free up some disk space on the DSA server. The agent keeps all its files under C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Migration Manager\DSA\Configs folder. Here are what can be done about some folders underneath it that account for the space growth:
LogArchive - contains DSA logs which are building very fast and archived after every 10 MB. All the content of this folder can be safely moved to another location (backed up) without affecting DSA operations. These files can be requested by Quest Software Support to troubleshoot various DSA problems. Upon the migration project completion and product uninstall these files can be deleted.
Dumps - Here DSA creates dump files of its memory during failures. All the content of this folder can be safely moved to another location (backed up) without affecting DSA operations. These files can be requested by Quest Software Support to troubleshoot various DSA problems. Upon the migration project completion and product uninstall these files can be deleted.
CfgHistory - Where DSA keeps historical data of its configuration. All the content of this folder can be safely moved to another location (backed up) without affecting DSA operations. These files can be requested by Quest Software Support to troubleshoot various DSA problems. Upon the migration project completion and product uninstall these files can be deleted. UndoStorage - In this folder DSA keeps Roll Back information about all previous migration sessions. If content is removed no Roll Back will be possible, however DSA will function properly as far as the rest of its functionality.
Not always advisable to remove - Cache - Here DSA keeps its operational cache. If these files are deleted DSA will be forced to rebuild them going through the Full Resync process.
Since the DSA ran out of disk space the cache file being used by QMM will undoubtedly be corrupted. The only resolution is to perform a full resync. This will remove the corrupted cache file and build a fresh one. This can be performed by simply right clicking the Synchronization node under Domain pair and choosing the Start and Resync selection.
