How can Messagestats Web reports be moved to another location?
1. Stop the Quest MessageStats and IIS Admin services, which should stop the SMTP service, and the WWW Publishing service. If not, then stop the services individually.
2. Copy the "MessageStatsReports" folder, which is located by default in c:\Inetpub\WWWRoot, to the desired location.
3. Launch the IIS Admin tool. Under Default Web Site, right-click on the MessageStats virtual directory and select Properties.
4. In the Virtual Directory tab, click the Browse button and browse to the location of the new Reports folder. Click OK to exit the MessageStats Properties box.
5. Right-click on Default Web Site and Stop and Start the service.
6. Restart the Quest MessageStats, IIS Admin, SMTP, FTP Publishing and WWW Publishing services.
7. Launch MessageStats Reports.
8. The source Reports folder can be deleted once it is assured that all the data has been transferred.
9. Update the following registry key to point to the new directory:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Quest Software\MessageStats\ClientDB\ApplicationRootPath
Note: Recreating permissions on the new directory should be done carefully. Permissions are fairly complicated in the c:\inetpub\wwwroot\MessageStats\Reports\_Users directory. The following directories require special attention:
Reports\_Users
Reports\_Users\SubscriptionLinks
Recommendation: Please recreate the permissions using CACLS to display the original permissions, and to recreate the new permissions in the new location. Uninstalling/Reinstalling the report application would take care of this issue.
