Active Administrator introduces a function to test Active Directory Replication Monitoring. What happens during the test and why is it set to 30 minutes?
The Active Directory Replication Monitor test is configured in the Active Administrator Console under Active Directory Infrastructure | Replication Monitoring. The test defaults to running every 30 minutes. During the test, a data packet is sent to each domain controller. Active Administrator notes that each Domain Controller acknowledges the packet. To be notified of the Pass/Fail results of the testing, users can create an Active Administrator Alert Notification for the event "Active Directory Replication Test Succeeded" and "Active Directory Replication Test Failed".
The test is non-destructive and non-volatile and does not replicate any part of Active Directory nor stress the Domain Controller. Impact on network bandwidth and server resources is minimal.
The interval for testing can be reset in the "Active Directory Replication Monitor" and the testing can be disabled for certain highly restricted networks.
